Noskova and Muchova, a top-10 doubles pairing who contested an all-Czech final at Wimbledon earlier this year, were the stars of the team.

Barbora Strycova makes history as player-captain

Barbora Strycova became the fourth woman in history to win the Billie Jean King Cup as both a player and a captain. She joins tennis legends Margaret Court, Chris Evert, and Billie Jean King in this elite group. Strycova took over as Czech captain nearly three years after retiring, succeeding Petr Pala who stepped down after 18 years and six titles.

Strycova was a playing member of all six teams that won under Pala's leadership, including the 2018 championship squad. She said she had 'goosebumps' hearing her name mentioned alongside such icons. "It says so much to be next to such legends," Strycova stated.

Ukraine's historic run ends in final

Ukraine reached the Billie Jean King Cup final for the first time in its history. The team, captained by Illya Marchenko and supported by Elina Svitolina's foundation, defeated the two-time defending champions Italy in the previous round.
